Welcome back to our blog after the Christmas break.
We hope you had a great time with your, family and friends.
In today’s article, we would like to teach you on how to replace a faulty roller door seal.
When a seal gets deteriorated; rain, leaves or dust can easily enter your garage and make it untidy.
The first thing you should do is put the door into manual by pulling the cord on the motor. It will disengage the motor and allow you to move the roller door up and down manually.
Push the door up and lock the motor by pulling the cord, then remove the track the door rolls on from the opposite side of the motor. This releases the door on one side, pull it down halfway, then lock the motor again to hold it in place. It will give you the access to the old deteriorated seal. To pull it out, you have to start with levering off the nylon webbing that is covering the bottom of the door. Then you can pull out the broken seal and check it against the replacement seal. (Most of the roller garage door seals are available in larger hardware stores such as Bunnings.)
The new seal should slide in the same groove.
In older models of roller garage doors, you can find seals with different width or system. In this case, you might need to replace the aluminium extrusion to fit and screw it to the bottom of the door. Then just slide the seal onto the bottom of the door. To make this process a bit easier, we recommend applying some silicone spray onto the rails where you slot the seal.
Once on, replace the nylon webbing over the seal. Change the track. Unlock the motor again and pull the door to the top. Lock the motor again, then reset the limits on the motor.
Before you start reusing your roller door again, check that everything is secure and tight.
We hope you found this article about repair roller door is useful.
